"André Rieu Encouragement Price'
During the '5years' concert Amikejo in the MECC on Sunday, April 26, 2015, for the first time the "André Rieu Encouragement Price" was awarded in the MECC in Maastricht.
The foundation LJSO Amikejo is very pleased about the fact that Mr. André Rieu feel so involved with young talent in the Euroregion and this young orchestra. Besides the unique linking of his name, the André Rieu Productions BV support this orchestra in as many ways as possible and facilitate. It is the first time that André Rieu has committed itself to a price.
This prize will be awarded annually to euregional music talents in two categories (strings and brass/woodwind/percussion). The jury is Mark Prills (conductor Amikejo), Ruud Merx and Frank Steijns (both Johann Strauss Orchestra) and Tom Berghmans (Board Foundation LJSO).
In the category brass/woodwind/percussion instrument was the first "André Rieu Encouragement" to Samuel Aguirre Agustín Guerra (21), who was born in Colombia and plays oboe. In the category strings the prize went to Thibaut Maesen (13) from Zutendaal (Belgium ) who plays the cello.
The winners received an official certificate alongside a cash prize of € 350, - that they should invest to develop their musical talent. The winner (s) may call themselves "Crossing Border Music Talent 2015 '.
